Welcome to Ethiopian Kids Community!

We are a parent established and led 501(c)3 nonprofit that nurtures connections and provides support for families with Ethiopian American children. We have various gatherings for families at fun venues, topic based and just for fun parent gatherings, Ethiopian dance and Amharic classes, and other activities.  Of course, we are most known for the EKC Family Camp—going into our sixth year in a row. Family Camp is a wonderful time to spend time with new and old friends alike.

We are a grass roots organization that depends on parent involvement. We work to provide you with as much or as little structure needed for an impromptu gathering in a park, a topical discussion group, or resources for adoption issues. We welcome your ideas! Be sure to connect with us on facebook where we post any news about Ethiopian related events going on in our area.

OUR ROOTS

Ethiopian Kids Community was born out of one family’s desire to have their Ethiopian born children stay connected with other Ethiopian adoptees. The idea of EKC was quickly embraced by other adoptive families and soon after, members of the Ethiopian American community. EKC started as monthly gatherings where children who were adopted would reconnect. It now includes fall and spring classes to learn Ethiopian cultural dances and the Amharic language.

OUR THANKS

EKC is a 501(c)(3) organization that accepts tax-deductible donations. We are a volunteer run organization. EKC exists because of parents and friends in our community who give of their time and resources to help EKC accomplish its mission.
