By registering for Ethiopian Kids Community Dance Class I understand that there are inherent risks of serious injury with dance activities. I hereby, intending to be legally bound, for myself, my heirs, and assigns, waive and release forever any and all liability, and all claims for damages against Ethiopian Kids Community, its staff, board of directors, teachers, choreographers, and all employees for any and all injuries and/or losses that I/my son/my daughter may sustain associated with my child’s participation in Ethiopian Kids Community activities. I authorize Ethiopian Kids Community volunteers/staff to obtain necessary medical care for myself/my son/my daughter. Pictures taken at the dance class and dance related events may be used on promotional materials for Ethiopian Kids Community. I agree to abide by the policies of Ethiopian Kids Community.

What to wear for class:
Kids should wear sweatpants or shorts and a t-shirt. Kids should wear tennis shoes with non-marking soles but may be dancing barefoot.  We will provide the girls with a scarf to wrap around their waist just for practice in the dance studio.

Traditional Clothing:
Boys-We ask that boys have white pants and a long sleeve white t-shirt for the dance recital at Genna.
Girls-We ask that girls have a traditional Ethiopian dress with the scarf for the dance recital.

Recital:
Kids in the Spring/Summer session of dance class will dance at the EKC Summer Mehaber on July 10th, 2010.

Attendance:
It is very important for your child to attend all of the dance sessions so their instructor can work with the choreography for the recital. If your child is unable to attend a session please let your instructor know in advance.

About EKC Dance Classes

Children learn traditional dances from Ethiopia. As the children grow and continue from one session to the next they learn to perfect their previous moves and add more complex dance steps to their routines.

About our Teachers
Classes are taught by Anteneh (AT) and Henok, members of the Ethiopian Dance Troupe Andenet.

About Anteneh
AT has been dancing since he was a child. AT is the founding member of Andenet. Anteneh attends classes at the University of Minnesota where he also serves on the Board of the Ethiopian Student Association. When AT is not attending classes at the U or teaching dance he works at United Hospital.

About Henok
Henok has been dancing since he was a teenager. Henok has a passion for the arts and young people. Henok works for Regions Hospital. In his spare time he enjoys dancing and producing movies.
