Join your EKC friends for great conversations!
The Book Club is changing! Over the last year and a half we've read some wonderful books on adoption, Ethiopia, race, parenting, and more, which have led to amazing discussions. But we realized that the discussions focused more on what is happening in our lives than what happened in the books. The books have served the purpose of bringing up topics and issues important to where we've been and where we are going in our family journeys. So we are adapting. Here's what's happening:
1. There will still be books! But now they will be used more as resources and guides, and we plan to add articles, websites, videos and our own experiences to the list.
2. The pressure to keep up with the reading is gone! We have heard from many of you that you didn't feel comfortable coming if you hadn't finished the book (or even started it;). Now you can read at your own pace AND contribute to the discussion.
3. As always, we welcome members at ANY point in their adoption and parenting journey! Add your voice to the discussion.
All discussion club meetings are posted several weeks in advance on the EKC Meetup. If you have any questions or book suggestions, please email club coordinator, Jane Steiner, at janewrites@hotmail.com.
